Virginia Scadeng is a Whitstable-based artist who works in oils on canvas. The gallery on this site offers a sample of the range of subjects which inspire her. The colour and other inherent qualities of the paint itself, and its expressive potential, are as important as the subject matter in driving the creative process.
She gained first-class honours in fine art (painting) at Kent Institute of Art and Design, followed by an MA in fine art (painting) at the University of Central England, Birmingham, and was then awarded a painting fellowship at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education.
She has worked as an art lecturer and teacher, and as an illustrator.
